Ignacio Prego, a young Spanish harpsichordist who won the 2012 Westfield International Harpsichord Competition and was described by *El Mundo* as “the most versatile and outstanding Spanish musician on the classical scene.” He has performed with masters of the early music world such as Harry Bicket, Monica Haggett, Masaaki Suzuki, and Jordi Savall; he has performed not only throughout Europe but also worldwide, including Japan, China, and North and South America. This recording features Prego as ensemble director, having previously collaborated with Joséchu Obregón & La Litrata on their album of Falconieri works released by Glossa. This highly anticipated album features Charles Avison’s collection of concerto grosso works—composed under the inspiration of Domenico Scarlatti’s sonatas for keyboard—alongside the original Scarlatti sonatas that served as their inspiration. Italian music was extremely popular in England at the time, and Avison himself studied music under Geminiani. Tiento Nuovo is a newly formed ensemble founded by Ignacio Prego, led by Italian Baroque violinist Emanuele Reske-Caserta, who also served as concertmaster of Les Arts Florissants. Tokyo M-Plus
