Description:
Composed between 1796 and 1798, the oratorio "The Creation" was commissioned to the 64-year-old Haydn by the showman J.P. Zalomon upon his return to Vienna after his second stay in London. It took two years to complete this large-scale work, using a libretto created by Baron Sviden, Haydn's friend and understanding, based on the texts of the Old Testament's "Genesis" and Milton's "Paradise Lost". The work is composed of three parts: the first part covers the first through the fourth days of "Creation," the second part covers the fifth and sixth days, and the third part depicts Adam and Eve, the human beings created by God. Haydn has attached extremely large scale music to this oratorio by using his expertise in religious music cultivated up to that time and his experience in numerous operas. The colorful orchestral sound clearly expresses the world that is being created, and the beautiful arias by the solo singers add color to this. Haydn's masterpiece is conducted by Lorance Ekilbey, an authority on choral music and a woman who has recently founded her own orchestra, the Insula Orchestra.In this production, Marc Kolowicz conducts the vocal ensemble "Aksantzus" and himself oversees the entire ensemble, including the Insula Orchestra. In addition to the wonderful performance by the orchestra, chorus, and soloists, the dramatic story is brought to life by a performance by "La Fra dels Baus" from Catalonia, known for its avant-garde staging. The intense and shocking stage performance, which makes full use of huge equipment, projection mapping, video, and lighting, will be a new "Genesis" in the 21st century. Naxos Japan
