Valery Gergiev was appointed Chief Conductor of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015. This video captures their appearance at the 2016 Proms with the newly-appointed orchestra, where they gave a brilliant performance. The concert opened with Ravel's Bolero, and the soloist in Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 was Uzbek pianist Bevzod Abduraimov, who played the same piece with the NHK Symphony Orchestra when he visited Japan in 2014. The next piece is Symphony No. 3 by Ustvolskaya, a female composer who has been attracting increasing attention in recent years. The work was accompanied by a reading, and the Russian stage actor Alexei Petrenko captivated the audience with his wonderful narration. The program continued with the brilliant and good-natured "Knight of Roses" concert suite, and ended with Berlioz's "Racozzi March," which was a great success.This grand concert will be concluded with a round of applause from the full house. ＜Born in Uzbekistan in 1990, Bevzod Abduraimov won the first prize at the London International Piano Competition in 2009, and since then has been attracting international attention, giving concerts and recitals around the world. The debut disc (Prokofiev and Liszt works) released in 2011 was highly acclaimed for its amazing technique and musicality. Gergiev is especially fond of her, and in 2015 she performed the complete Prokofiev concertos in a single day with the Munich Philharmonic, a remarkable achievement. Naxos Japan
