Description:
The violin appeared in the 16th century. The Italian composer Corelli established the technique of playing this instrument. His 12 "Violin Sonatas, Op. 5" are so highly regarded as excellent works that even today they are used as instructional manuals. He also introduced a certain form to violin sonatas, which were written in various forms at that time. In the 18th century, Italian violinists who learned his technique and inherited the tradition emigrated to various parts of Europe, spreading the Italian style and style of playing. This album contains sonatas by Corelli and the next generation of composers, Mossi and Carbonelli, and one can hear Corelli's strong influence in the charming melodies. The soloist here is Mackie Lodge, a baroque violinist based in New York and Paris. He is highly regarded for his virtuosity and improvisational skills. Naxos Japan
