The beginning of the first track. A tribute to Respighi that truly makes you want to shout "Oh! The world changes at a dizzying pace with each opening of the sound door. This is a very pleasant experience. Di Vittorio (1967-), born in Palermo, studied art and ancient philosophy in New York, and began conducting in Rome, Florence, and London. He later gained prominence in New York conducting the Ottorino Respighi Chamber Orchestra. The works recorded here give us a glimpse of his various styles, including the Italianate style of the aforementioned Respighi, the Germanic diction found in the Symphony No. 2, the meditative and feminine "Ave Maria" written in Renaissance-style harmony, the "Symphony No. 1," which he says was influenced by Vivaldi, the Symphony No. 1," which is said to be influenced by Vivaldi, and the "Clarinet Sonata," which has an elusive melody but is somehow well-formed. After listening to all of them, you will want to listen to the piece again from the beginning. Naxos Japan
