Description:

One of the most sought-after composers in contemporary America is this Jennifer Higdon. Her "Violin Concerto" won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize, and her "Percussion Concerto" won a Grammy the same year. She has received accolades from around the world, and her talent is immeasurable, as her works have been performed all over the world and recorded on over 60 CDs. This album features two world premiere recordings: the 2014 "Concerto for Viola" was composed for her longtime friend, viola player Diaz, who reminded her that "the viola has a very dark and heavy sound. The 2005 oboe concerto is about 20 minutes long, but it is a very rewarding work that makes the most of the oboe's beautiful tone. The album title All Things Majestic was commissioned by the 2011 Grand Teton Music Festival. It is descriptive music filled with her love and tribute to nature. Naxos Japan
