Description:
【Featuring works by 38 composers recorded on 15 historic organs. A monumental project showcasing the richness of North German Baroque organ music, now available in a box set】 This box set is the culmination of a decade of intensive research into North German Baroque organ music. Alongside renowned works, it presents long-forgotten pieces, rediscovered compositions, and rarely performed works, clearly demonstrating the existence of an extremely sophisticated compositional and performance culture prior to Buxtehude. This also serves as a crucial musical historical milestone leading to J.S. Bach. Organist Friedhelm Flämme recorded works by 38 composers between 2004 and 2013, completing this monumental collection spanning 22 discs with a total playing time exceeding 24 hours. Furthermore, the 230-page booklet (German/English) includes commentary on the composers and recorded works, outlines of the organs used, and details of the stop combinations illustrating the timbres employed. Friedhelm Flämme studied church music, organ, conducting, musicology, composition, and theology at the Detmold University of Music, earning the university's highest church music qualification, the "A-Examen," and the state performer's diploma with the highest distinction. He further completed religious education at the University of Paderborn, earning his doctorate with a thesis on Friedrich Gulda. While teaching at the Detmold University of Music, he has been internationally active in both education and performance, recording numerous complete works for the cpo label. He gained international recognition in 2004 for his complete organ works of Duruflé. He currently serves as Artistic Director of Vox Organi, an organ music festival held in southern Lower Saxony, Germany. Naxos Japan
