An album of Prokofiev works derived from music for film, produced by Elite Recordings and remastered at 24bit/192kHz as part of the VOX AUDIOPHILE EDITION, originally released in 1981 as a 3 LP set with "Alexander Nevsky" & "Lieutenant Kyger" (VOXNX 3033CD) in 1981. Slatkin's performances of Prokofiev are also highly acclaimed, but recordings are scarce, and this is a rare one. The narration was cut out when the CD was released on Vox-Box, but this reissue goes back to the original master and includes the narration as it did when the LP was first released. This time, it is reissued with the narration as it was when the LP was first released. In the U.S., this is an excellent recording that is well known among audiophiles. In 2003, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab., a reissue label that is dedicated to reissues, licensed the recording and made it available on SACD.While this is a standard CD, the reissue is notable for its 24-bit/192kHz remastering by renowned engineer Mike Clements.
