Max Reger's piano music is known for complex works such as fugues and variations, but his creativity can also be seen in the small pieces he wrote from time to time. For example, the Schumann-like improvisations and the "Six Pieces" dedicated to Teresa Carreño written in his early years are in the salon style, while the "Dream by the Fireplace" of his later years has a strong self-confessional element and is said to have influenced Schoenberg, showing the diversity of his style. In addition, the "Humoresques" included in "My Diary" are all written to be played on white keys, which became a favorite of Princess Marie Elisabeth of Saxe-Meiningen.Maria's Lullaby" is one of the most famous of his works, and here we have the composer's own version for solo piano. In addition, a total of 24 other pieces can be heard on the album, including world premiere recordings. Luigi Palombi is a pianist with degrees in piano and composition from the Milan Conservatory. He has worked with Ennio Morricone and Nicola Piovani, and has released CDs on the Dynamic label with elaborate selections such as Duke Ellington (CDS-7743) and Stravinsky (CDS-7947).
