Bach excelled at polyphonic writing, in which multiple melodies are played simultaneously in different tones to make the polyphonic patterns clearly audible, and he wrote many of his works for harpsichord and organ, which he also played skillfully. This album is an album that makes it easy to understand and appreciate the structural appeal of each piece. The soloists are experienced soloists who have performed with the Café Zimmermann, Ricercar Consort, and other renowned groups. The middle part of the original is moved to the soprano range, and the interpretation is like a trio sonata or quartet sonata, making the most of the tonal contrasts between each part. In the Lutheran hymns (chorales) arranged by Bach for solo organ, he had the singers sing the parts that correspond to the original songs, and it is encouraging that the approach is based on the 18th century style of music without falling into excessive respect for the original works.In addition to clarifying the movements of each voice part, the new composition brings out the operatic overture-like sound that was latent in the keyboard version of the original piece, as in the opening track, and other interpretations become possible only because the original work was free from the limitations of instruments. Even the unaccompanied Chaconne, which in the original work is polyphonic with a single violin, is reproduced in this new arrangement as rich music that is not at all excessive, and we can once again experience the depth of Bach's world.
