However, the program is not limited to the ancient music repertoire, but is composed by skillfully juxtaposing 17th century music with famous songs by 20th century Latin American singers and songwriters who have energized the popular scene in Cuba, Mexico, Chile, and other countries. The program progression is extremely impressive, with the graceful and warm voice of Malloy making Latin American music sound surprisingly fresh, and the uncompromising old music interpretations of baroque works coexisting without any discomfort with the appearance of the Latin American music. The flexibility of Elizabeth Kenny and Toby Carr, two old-time instrumentalists who play a variety of stringed instruments, including modern guitars, is also astonishing.Together with the music of musicians who risked their lives against the situation in their home countries, such as Silvio Rodriguez and Nico Rojas from Cuba, Rafael Hernandez from Puerto Rico, and Victor Jara from Chile, you will be reminded once again of the novelty of Purcell and Monteverdi's writing styles, which were ahead of their time.
