Description:

A Breath of History Rising from the Echoes of More Than 300 Years Ago! This is the Road to MozartThe clavichord, known as the favorite instrument of the great Bach and his sons, is an ancient keyboard instrument that is small enough to be placed on a tabletop and easy to carry around. Because of its structure, the sound can be nuanced depending on the moment the key is struck and the strength of the fingers that hold down the keyboard afterward, and expressive performances are possible. It disappeared from the stage of music history after the 19th century, when professional musicians began to play for large groups of people. However, there are many musicians throughout Europe who loved to play it in their private spaces, such as organists practicing, and it is known that Mozart had a travel instrument that allowed him to practice on the keyboard when he traveled. Based on this tradition, this album uses the oldest surviving original instruments in Austria from around 1700, and approaches the sound of the private performance spaces of 18th century musicians who learned a lot from pre-Baroque music. The instruments are all made of wood quarried in the local area of their makers, and the resonant strings create sounds that cannot be played at the same time, so players must be creative. The young Linz-born virtuoso, Alexander Gergelifi, plays with skill and nuance, bringing out the rich materiality of the 300-year-old instrument.Enjoy the engineering that clearly captures the microtones of the instruments themselves up close and personal, and take a sonic journey through diverse musical styles, from the polyphonic calligraphy of the Baroque masters Fuchs and Muffat, whom Mozart studied, to the elegant keyboard music of the Rococo period in the southern German-speaking regions of Europe.
