Bent Seansen (also known as Sørensen) is one of Denmark's leading contemporary composers. His sonic universe has been described as one of loneliness, nostalgia, loss, and the sorrow of separation. L'Isola della Citta (The Island of the City)" on this album is a work in the form of a triple concerto. As Seansen himself says, "This music, like most of my music, was written at night, so it has a nocturnal atmosphere," and the violin, cello, and piano engage in a quiet conversation with the orchestra. The soloists are the three members of Trio Con Brio Copenhagen, who have performed many of Seansen's works in the past. Symphony No. 2 is a work in classical form. It is a piece with rich musical ideas and melodies, and is a great pleasure to listen to. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Jukka-Pekka Saraste. Naxos Japan
