Young French oboist Gabriel Pidot makes his debutA young oboist born in Paris, Gabriel Pidot was awarded "Instrumentalist of the Year" in 2020 at the prestigious French music prize "Victoires de la Musique Classique". He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he learned how to play the period instruments as well as the modern ones. He is also a member of a period wind ensemble called "Sarbacanes". He is also a member of the VIVALDI GUYS, a unit that has become the talk of the town for its video of him playing the oboe and dancing to a techno-arranged Vivaldi concerto. His debut album is a collection of romantic works for oboe. It includes Robert Schumann's famous and wonderful but little-known "Three Pieces" by Varner, which is probably recorded for the first time, and Dranishnikova's "Poems," which is known only for this work. In addition, Elgar's "Love Greeting" and Clara Schumann's "Three Romances," both written for violin, are performed with a light touch.The skill with which he expresses the beauty of the melody line more than adequately with a light touch is a wonderful example of the new generation of instrumentalists. The ensemble will be accompanied by Cuban pianist Jorge González Buahasan, who is already highly acclaimed as a soloist and ensemble player. Naxos Japan
