The Dover Quartet is an American ensemble that gained international attention in 2013 when it won first prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition held in Canada. In 2020, the quartet was named Ensemble in Residence at Curtis Institute of Music. This three-disc set includes five of Beethoven's mid-term quartets. They have performed all of Beethoven's string quartets in concert, most notably in the famous Beethoven series at the University at Buffalo, a chamber music series that began in 1955, when they were appointed to follow such prestigious string quartets as Budapest, Guarneri, and Cleveland The Beethoven series has received particular acclaim.
