Florent Schmidt was a French composer of German descent. Although he was an excellent pianist, he did not leave many piano pieces in his lifetime. However, his original style of music has been loved by many people. This album contains three suites and three pieces by Florent Schmidt, which are harmonically rich and full of melancholy. The "Nine Pieces," written between 1895 and 1903, reflect his travels from Italy to Switzerland, Germany, Greece, and Turkey, and include folk songs he heard in the cities and villages he visited. The "Puppet" from 1907 is a collection of songs depicting characters from the Commedia dell'Arte. Dusk," whose date of composition is uncertain, is another work of poetic inspiration. Biljana Urban, a Zagreb pianist born into a musical family of Czech origins, has lived and worked in Paris since 1985.The GRAND PIANO label has released a three-volume album of works by Bohemian composer Wojciech. She has also recorded works by her grandfather, Jan Uban, for the NAXOS label (distribution only). Naxos Japan
