Description:

The 2018 exhibition "Musica Femina - Women Made Music" in Vienna, which attracted 56,000 visitors during its two-month run, featured 100 female composers from Sappho's time to the present. The exhibition was accompanied by short biographies of each composer, and Sophie Layer, a contemporary Austrian poet, filmmaker, and composer, came up with the idea of creating 100 poems to complement the biographies. Layer then asked contemporary female composers to create short pieces of music using or inspired by her poems, and to dedicate them to the women composers of the past who have created history. The layered words are not only recited, but can be sung along with the music or incorporated into fragments at will. *Lyrics are not printed in the booklet. Naxos Japan
