One day, her aunt, the Duchess, visits her at the convent and demands that she give up her inheritance, informing her that her only son is ill and has already passed away. In despair, Angelica slurps down poison and attempts to commit suicide... This video is the "Nun Angelica" from the Florentine May Festival Opera, which connects the already released Puccini's trilogy "The Cloak" and "Gianni Schicchi". Angelica will be sung by José María Ciri, who sang the heroine in two productions of "Tosca" and "Andrea Chenier" during the New National Theatre 2015/16 season, and will appear in "Manon Lescaut" at La Scala in 2019 to great acclaim. In this production, he sings Angelica's anguish and prayers in his rich lilico spinto beautiful voice.The nuns who appear in the performance, both in acting and singing, are distinctly individual, providing a striking contrast to this opera sung only by female voices, and Valerio Galli's baton brings the entire production together with graceful resonance.
