Adrian Boult, one of the greatest conductors of the 20th century, became the conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in 1924, the first principal conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, and from 1951 to 1957, the principal conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1951 to 1957, he served as Chief Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, where he is known for his brilliant restoration of the orchestra after the chaos of World War II. This album was his last recording with the orchestra, made in 1956. This is a reissue of the LP version. The sound quality is excellent. Naxos Japan
