Description:
Japanese extreme metal band Psy releases their 12th album. The guitarist and bassist are Frederic Leclerc (Creator, ex-Dragonforce), and the drummer is Mike Heller (Fear Factory, Raven). Japanese lyrics are used throughout the album, and the fear of death is thoroughly discussed. The Japanese version includes 2 bonus tracks. Japanese commentary by Mirai Kawashima (SIGH). The formation of the band dates back to 1990. After making a few demos, they signed with the now deceased Euronymos' (Mayhem) Deathlike Silence Productions and released their debut album "Scorn Defeat" in 1993. (Unfortunately, Euronimos was murdered just before its release.) The band then signed with Cacophonus Records, which discovered Cradle of Filth and Dim Borgil, and released their third album, Hail Horror Hail, in 1997, which was named one of the "100 most important albums of the 90s" by Terrorizer magazine in the UK.Since then, Psy has been working with Century Media, The End Records, Candlelight Records, and others, and has released 11 albums to date. They are now releasing their newest album, "Shiki," their first in four years and their twelfth. This is their first work after moving to Peaceville, home of Darkthrone, and features a super-strong lineup of creators, Frederic Leclerc (G,B) formerly of Dragon Force, Mike Heller (Dr) of Fear Factory and Raven, flanked by Mirai Kawashima (Vo, Key, Flute, etc). Psy's musical style seems to differ from album to album, but this time, featuring Japanese-style artwork for the first time in a long time, the style of the album also seems to be a return to the early days of black metal. However, the album is still full of the sense that the listener has been left behind, as Kawashima himself plays the shakuhachi flute and tampura. With titles that have countless meanings in Japanese, such as "Shiki," "Shiki," "Shikki," "Shiki Shiki," and "Shikishi," the entire album is written in Japanese, and the fear of death is thoroughly discussed. Mixed and mastered by Lasse Ramelt (Eilstorm, Lucid, etc.).Japanese version includes 2 bonus tracks.
