Carl Perkins, whose historic recordings for Sun Records include the 1956 U.S. hit "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Matchbox," covered by The Beatles, was born April 9, 1932, in southern Tennessee. Growing up the son of a peasant farmer, the Perkins family lived in considerable poverty. As a teenager with his older brother, Jay Perkins, he worked part-time for a neighboring farmer to help support the family, and the brothers enjoyed the radio country show "The Grand Ole Opry." They became familiar with country, bluegrass, and blues. Later, he formed a country band with his brother with the goal of becoming a professional musician. A few years later, he auditioned for Sun Records and passed. Finally, he made his debut. This was the beginning of his career as the "King of Rockabilly" and the "Nobleman of Rockabilly. This CD is the long-awaited release of his memorable first album "Dance Album of Carl Perkins" with his signature songs "Dixie Fried" and "Glad All Over" as bonus tracks.
