This album is a collection of previously unissued recordings of three of the most important cellists of the 20th century, licensed by INA & Radio France. The album includes Dvořák's Cello Concerto performed by János Starker (1924-2013) in 1966, Beethoven's Cello Sonata No. 2 performed by Pierre Fournier (1906-1986) in 1980, and André Lévy's (1894-1982) 1963 performance of Cherepnin's "Songs" in the "Cello Sonata No. 1". André Lévy (1894-1982) performed Cherepnin's "Songs and Dances" in 1963.Spectrum Sound is renowned for its reissues of cellos, of which its cello reissues are among the most highly regarded.
