Shimon Hoshino, a "lofi-surf" producer who has been making waves in the chill/low-fi scene, has released a 7" single cut from his limited distribution EP. Side A features "closer", a collaboration with Michael Kaneko, a singer-songwriter born in Shonan and raised in Southern California, and Side B features "freeze mains", a collaboration with Salty Jua, a trilingual rapper born in Hawaii and raised in Kyoto. Side B features "freeze mains," a collaboration with trilingual rapper Salty Jua, born in Hawaii and raised in Kyoto. Shimon Hoshino is a much talked-about artist in the chill/low-fi scene, who will form Osteoleuco in 2019 and Henryne Girls with DE DE MOUSE in 2024. He has also released a number of chill/lo-fi albums under his solo name, which have become viral hits. A surfer himself, Shimon Hoshino's work is a chill-out sound created on the beach. Side A "closer" is the first collaboration with Michael Kaneko, who has many things in common with Shonan, the sea, surfing... This is the first collaboration with Michael Kaneko, with whom I have many things in common. The pleasant medium-tempo lo-fi beat, beautiful and sad piano melody, and retro-inspired melodious vocal harmonies create a dreamy atmosphere. Side B "freeze mains" is a collaboration with trilingual rapper "Salty Jua," who was born in Hawaii and raised in Kyoto. The crisp rap over flowing piano and smoky lo-fi beats is an exhilarating work with rime and flow like a surging wave.
