Included are Henry Mancini's "Soldier in The Rain," Fumio Itabashi's "Good-bye," Tsuyoshi Shibuya's "Beyond The Flames," and a fascinating lineup of others. The idea is to select pianists who have demonstrated extremely strong personalities in the Japanese jazz music scene and have gained a large following, and hold duet concerts with two pianos. This time, we have recorded the performance held at Ginza Oji Hall in August 2022, featuring Takeshi Shibuya solo piano, in its entirety as a live recording. He is a pianist of both ability and popularity who has created and presented to the world his own unique music with thought and aesthetics, a rare opportunity for extremely new music to be created. He is an artist who has deepened jazz music, a culture born and still ongoing in the United States, in the land of Japan, without disobeying the achievements of past Japanese musicians or his own sensibility. He is an artist who has deepened jazz music in Japan without turning his back on the achievements of past Japanese musicians or his own sensibilities.This concert will not only be a 21st century achievement of Japanese jazz, but must be the freshest and richest achievement of Japan's 21st century music and even art culture.
