June Taber's second album this year June Taber, a veteran singer who has been influencing not only the UK folk (trad) scene but also the UK music scene as a whole, released her solo album "To the Beach" (Rice TPR-23025) this spring. She has now released a collaborative work with The Oyster Band, with whom she has long been in close contact. June Taber was born in 1947 in Warwick, a town in central England, and experienced the folk revival movement in her mid-teens in the U.K. Later, while still in college, she played in an amateur band and came to prominence with Maddy Pryor She then formed a folk duo, the Siri Sisters, with Maddie Pryor. In the same year as her debut with the Three Sisters, June also made her solo debut on Topic Records, a prestigious UK folk label. Since then, she has consistently released albums, and in the mid-90s, June's music was also released in Japan by Columbia and other labels. June collaborated with the Oyster Band, a long-established folk-rock band formed in 1976, for the first time on "Freedom and Rain" in 1990, and has performed with the band live since then.This is the second collaborative work released after 21 years. Most of the songs on this album are traditional songs, but the main feature of this album is that you can enjoy June's deep and tasteful vocals, mainly in arrangements that push the folk-rock band sound to the forefront. The album also includes a cover of Bob Dylan's "Seven Curses" and is intended for a wide range of fans. June Taber has many fans in Japan, and this album is sure to attract a lot of attention.
