Arturo Toscanini left an enormous mark on the history of 20th century music. In the first half of his life, he performed mainly in European and American opera houses, and in the second half of his life, as a concert conductor, he performed a wide range of repertoire at an extremely high standard. The NBC Symphony Orchestra from 1937 is one of the earliest successful examples of media mixing in the art of music. The CD will be reissued in the analog LP jacket design. Toscanini actively performed American music with the NBC Symphony Orchestra, and this disc is the culmination of his efforts. The incandescent cantabile of Barber's Adagio, which Toscanini himself premiered, and the open exuberance of "The Star Spangled Banner Forever," which he performed many times during World War II, are unique performances that could only be found in Toscanini's own unique style.
