Canada's most popular singer-songwriter, best known as the singer of "To Build A Home," a classic song from The Cinematic Orchestra's newest album, which was created after confronting himself during the pandemic, has won only the Juno Awards, Canada's Grammy Awards, and the Polaris Awards for Best Artist, fending off the likes of Denis Johnson's Jesus' Son, Virginia Woolf's The Waves, and Soulbeat. Inspired by Denis Johnson's Jesus' Son, Virginia Woolf's The Waves, and Samanta Schweblin's Fever Dream. This work is very much inspired by Samanta Schweblin's Fever Dream. The addition of modular synths to bring in a larger electronic element, and the acoustic expression of the sound, like the other instruments, moves like liquid, building a warmer, more touchable approach. For this album, the band worked with a number of great musicians, including Andrew Barr of the Barr Brothers on drums."Height of the Feeling" is about using intimacy as a compass when you are feeling under the skin. I sometimes worry that I don't have the love and affection to sustain me. I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but it just is. I was lucky enough to co-write with Ariel Engle of La Force. She is such a pleasure to work with. We improvised a lot of takes on one mic and laughed together the whole time. Patrick Watson
