Established in the late 1960s, Albarica Store is one of the most important independent record labels on the African continent. The label's first compilation is released on Acid Jazz. Founded in the late 1960s by record store owner Seidou Adissa, Albarika Store is one of the most important independent record labels on the African continent, and Acid Jazz is proud to announce the release of the first compilation on the label, featuring David Hill (The Soul Acid Jazz is proud to present the first ever overdub of the label and its music by David Hill (The Soul Revivers) and Florent Mazzoleni (West African music expert). We can see with this compilation that the postcolonial music scene was developing and flourishing. First, we focus on the label's largest and most prolific act, Orchestre Poly-Rhythmo, and its founder, Melome Clement, who released under various names and spotlighted musicians key to their sound.We will also look at other well-known artists on the label, such as the incendiary Les Sympathics De Porto Novo and Les Volcans. On the other hand, one can also hear music swallowed up by funk and disco, thanks to tracks from the obscure but very danceable albums of Ipa Boogie and Ogassa.
