Description:

First CD & LP release in 5 years from the Kite Project by Hiroshi Watanabe, one of Japan's leading techno artists! Released simultaneously worldwide on InFiné, a prestigious French label known for the works of Carl Craig and Francesco Tristano! Hiroshi Watanabe, a musician, photographer, and DJ on the Japanese electronic scene, has been based in Tokyo for 25 years and has explored electronic music through more than 20 albums. Kaito is the first Japanese artist to release on InFiné, and is one of the few Japanese artists to have an overwhelmingly strong following in the West. In Europe, he is best known for his project Kaito, which began in 2001 under the prestigious Kompakt label, and the name Kaito is derived from the name of his son, who was only one year old at the time, as well as from the Japanese word for "universe" and "solving a mystery. It has a double meaning. These meanings allude to the spirituality found in his photographic work and contribute to the elements that make the Japanese artist a master of the ambient genre. Kaito's collaboration with InFiné began with his participation in Music Activists 2020 (From Home), a compilation supporting artists influenced by the Corona Vortex, and in 2023, Rone and Vanessa Wagner's single "Motion" In 2023, he remixed Rone and Vanessa Wagner's single "Motion". These led to this new album of nine ambient music tracks. Kaito's new album, "Collection," consists of nine ambient and melodic tracks composed during the pandemic. It presents a grand minimalist and harmonious therapy in response to the world's adversity, marking a return to the producer's artistic peak. In the midst of a pandemic, Bandcamp emerged as a beacon of hope, fostering a direct connection between artists and fans, allowing for mutual support and practical assistance. Music became a vector of healing, bridging the gap between creator and listener. Looking back on those days, the mutual support and healing provided by music was invaluable. The bond with fans was often conveyed through the heartfelt messages that accompanied music purchases, embodying a deep personal connection. For me, creating and sharing music during that time was not only a source of comfort to the world, but also a form of personal renewal." says Kaito.Kaito's music belongs to a tradition found in many Japanese artistic endeavors, from calligraphy to poetry, theater, and dance, often developed in an animistic relationship with nature, its rhythms, forms, and seasons. But what dominates this album more than anything else is the artist's desire to bring comfort and peace to listeners in the face of adversity in the world.
