Fantastic Voyage", compiled by Bob Stanley and Jason Wood of the BFI, is a companion album to the highly successful "Cafe Exil" collection and is inspired by the soundtrack to David Bowie and Iggy Pop's mid to late 70s train journey across Europe. Like "Low" and "Heroes," David Bowie and Brian Eno's groundbreaking Berlin-recorded trilogy, some of the songs are tension-inducing (Glauson's "Eisbar"), while others share the travel sentiment of these albums (Simple Minds' "Theme for Great Cities" by Simple Minds and "Riot in Lagos" by Ryuichi Sakamoto), while others find common ground with the dark, subtle humor of "Lodger" (Thomas Rail's "Tight as a Drum" and Fripp's "Exposure"). An exciting and borderless collection of soundtracks!
