Metz, a hardcore/noise rock band from Toronto, Canada. Co-produced with Ben Greenberg (Uniform), the band released their fourth album, "Atlas Vending", after a three-year hiatus. Change is inevitable. Our goal is to remain fluid and grow in a natural, incremental way. We have always been careful not to overthink or overanalyze the music we like. We've also never been satisfied until we've achieved something that moves us forward," says Alex Edkins (Vo/G) about METZ's fourth full-length album, "Atlas Vending. The sound of METZ, created by Edkins, Hayden Menzies (Dr.), and Chris Slorach (B), has always been difficult to pin down. Their early work had the vibrant energy of early '90s DIY hardcore, from the subpar sting of This Heat to the noisy riffs of Amphetamine Reptile, but at the same time, their sound never sounded like they were paying homage to their own heroes. It never did. The trio went into the production of Atlas Vending with the goal of making a more patient and honest record.Not only did it continue to push the sound into new territory of METZ's signature dynamics, winding melodies, sweaty rhythms, etc., but it also explored themes of growth and maturity that are suspended, especially among the youth. Atlas Vending was co-produced with Ben Greenberg (Uniform) and engineered and mixed by Seth Manchester (Daughters, Lingua Ignota, The Body). The result is the most dynamic, dimensional and compelling work of the band's career.
