Vegan, a pioneering producer who ushered in a new era! The long-awaited release of his latest album, the culmination of his career to date! Producer, DJ, designer, and label owner, Joe Thornally, aka Vegan, released his 70+ song mixtape "Don't Follow Me Because I'm Lost Too!" in 2022 and will release it in 2023. and a Fuji Rock appearance in 2023, he felt the need to break out of old patterns by making what he calls "some substandard work," that is, records that never saw the light of day. Instead of sophisticated sounds and sprawling, open-ended ideas, he allowed for imperfection, resulting in a highly elaborate body of work in which each song walks a tightrope between exuberance and eerie melancholia.This album, The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions, was born out of a freewheeling experimental space. As a producer and label owner, Vegan travels the globe, writing new songs in studios, living rooms, and hotel rooms around the world. His most accomplished work to date, the album features many up-and-coming artists, including John Gracia, Matt Martins, Leah Sen, Lauren Orderer, and Ethan P. Flynn. Like the rest of the work, the title of this album is full of ambiguity. When Joe thought about what the phrase "The road to hell is paved with good intentions," which translates directly to "The road to hell is paved with good intentions," actually means, thoughts such as "Doing the right thing will only cause more problems," and "The idea in your head to do good will not help you" came to his mind. Joe's thoughts were "I'm not going to do anything good. Either way, he explains, the word captures the divide between intention and action.This time around, the emphasis is on melody and song structure rather than the trademark distinctive flamboyance and BPM changes, which no doubt contributes to the high level of perfection, but there are still moments of Vegan's typical ironic humor and nostalgia scattered throughout the work, which the perfect balance of euphoria and melancholy common to all of Vegan's work, as well as a sense of solace and comfort. This album is the culmination of years of experience and refinement, and is truly the sound of an artist at the forefront of the scene, creating an era.
