The new string quartet release in Hensler's SWR archival reissue series is the LaSalle String Quartet, featuring Haydn's String Quartet No. 70, Brahms' String Quartet No. 3, and Zemlinsky's String Quartet No. 3. The LaSalle String Quartet was founded in 1946 by violinist Walter Levin and has performed on donated Amati instruments. The quartet's main repertoire includes Haydn (Classical), Brahms (Romantic), and Zemlinsky, whose complete works the quartet has released on the DG label. The ensemble is known for their unwavering performance, and this broadcast session recording offers their spirited playing.
