French, Slovenian, and German songs are sung by sopranos with harp accompaniment. It would not be unusual to hear Debussy or Fauré sing songs with harp accompaniment, but it would be rare when it comes to Schumann or Strauss. The works of Slovenian Romantic composer Benjamin Ipavets (1829-1908) and Katerina Pustinek Rakar (1979-), a leading contemporary Slovenian composer, are also excellent. Andreja Zakonishek Kurt is a soprano born and living in Celje, eastern Slovenia. She has sung a variety of soprano roles at the Maribor Opera for a quarter of a century and sang Micaëla opposite Vesselina Kasarova in Bizet's "Carmen" during the theater's 2014 Japan tour.
