Description:

Cadouche, who has a strong interest in the connection between literature and music, takes on Flaubert's masterpiece "Madame Bovary" Flaubert's masterpiece "Madame Bovary" was published in 1856 and became a huge bestseller when it was published the following year. The story follows Emma, a delusional country girl, who is discovered and married to Charles, a doctor, but who, because of her boredom with her husband, repeatedly commits adultery and, in addition, accumulates debts without her husband's permission, until she finally takes her own life, depicted with a realistic touch. David Kadusch, who is deeply interested in the relationship between literature and music, has created this album about Emma Bovary and her music. Nevertheless, he dares to avoid the piano pieces by Milhaud that depict Madame Bovary, and since there is not much specific music in the work, he fantasizes about the music she might have heard during her short life. The centerpiece is an excerpt from a suite entitled "One Year" by Fanny Mendelssohn. The story is set in the seasons of the year and describes Emma Bovary's emotional state. It is also interesting to note the selection of a rare piano piece by Pauline Viardot, a close friend of the author Flaubert. In addition, the piece is a paraphrase of Liszt's "Lucia di Lammermoor" by Donizetti, which Emma sees with her husband at the Opera House in Rouen. The final scene overlaps the frenzied Lucia and Emma's fate. The Variations, written by Clara Schumann on a theme by her husband Robert, also allude to Emma's affair with Leon. Recommended for those interested in French literature. King International
