He has been the focus of much attention for his amazing talent as a bassist in the recording of Mozart's Da Ponte opera trilogy (especially "The Marriage of Figaro") by Musica Eterna in Kulenzis. He is not only the bass continuo player of Musica Eterna, but also a conductor, a favorite pupil of Rozhestvensky, who has conducted Musica Eterna, Orchestre Il Pomodoro in Italy, Sinfonia Varsovia, and other orchestras. This album is Emelianichev's solo piano debut. Emelianichev plays Mozart, his specialty, on a fortepiano by Paul McNulty, modeled after Anton Walther's circa 1792. The three most substantial Mozart piano sonatas and the C minor fantasy related to No. 14 are presented here, and one listen to them and you will be riveted by their extraordinary musicality.The performance is calm and relaxed in a block style, but the tension and persuasiveness of the piano version of Kulenzis or Mravinsky's conducting, the deep musicality reminiscent of Richter, and the calculated improvisation of the ornaments during the repetitions, just like Steyer's, make one feel the genius of the artist.
