Description:
Master Planès captivates with his light touch on the pleyel One Response to Satie's Performance French virtuoso Alain Planès, born in 1948. In 2025, the 100th anniversary of the composer's death, he will release a collection of Satie's works. Planès was a student of Jacques Fevrier, a brilliant performer of Satie, Debussy, and Ravel. His solo and song works, as well as four-hand works by Satie, are ideally sounded on the Pleyel, which was created at about the same time as Satie's. The booklet with illustrations by Satie and by Planès (the jacket is an image of Satie by Planès) is also very interesting. Satie's "I composed a piece at the age of ten that ends like Satie's Gymnopédie," says Pranez. Satie was the only composer Debussy invited to his home on Sundays, at least until the scandal surrounding the ballet "Pallade" broke out. Debussy was somewhat annoyed by the unexpected success of Satie's ballet, which irritated the ballet's author. Satie sent Debussy a letter that was hurtful to him.... Ricardo Vignes, their mutual friend, was a kind of "Boulez at the piano" who shared Satie's artistry with Poulenc, Auric ... and my own beloved teacher, Jacques Febvrier. A great interpreter of Satie, Debussy, and Ravel, Fevrier taught me to play Satie without sentimentality and with a little coldness. I hope that my rendition of this piece will not cause the composer, wherever he may be, to have his legendary fits of rage." (Words of Pranes) Alain Planès was born in Lyon in 1948.After studying with Jacques Fevrier, he moved to the United States, where he studied with Menahem Pressler, Franco Gulli, and William Primrose. He was also the pianist for Starkel on cello. He is also a member of the Ensemble Intercontemporain, and is recognized worldwide as a specialist in contemporary music with his unparalleled interpretations of works by Boulez, Berio, Ligeti, and Stockhausen, as well as Haydn, the brilliantly colored Debussy, and Chopin on the fortepiano. He is a French virtuoso who has been captivating audiences with his ever-changing talents, including Haydn, the brilliantly colored Debussy, and Chopin on fortepiano. She also visited Japan for the La Folle Journée Music Festival, where she wowed the audience with her performance of Janacek. HARMONIA MUNDI
