Luciano Pavarotti

Description:

First public performance of the legendary tenor's historic performance at the peak of his career. For the first time, a remastered concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Modena choir, in which the legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti participated, in a choral competition in Wales, is being released. In addition to operatic arias such as "Cavalleria Rusticana," "Il Trovatore," "Macbeth," "Manon Lescaut," and "La Traviata," the concert also includes a selection of famous Neapolitan folk songs. It is performed with the BBC Philharmonic conducted by Leone Magiera, the Gioachino Rossini Chorus, and others. In July 1955, Luciano Pavarotti, then 19 years old, participated in the Slangosleng International Music Eisteddfod in Wales as a member of the choir with his father, winning overwhelmingly in the male chorus category. It was such a fate-defining experience that Pavarotti later said he came to believe that he could become a professional singer at this time. Forty years later, in 1995, after an incredible career, he returned here to fulfill a promise to himself and many others: a special concert. It was five years after the "Three Great Tenors" performed in Rome (1990), four years after the televised Hyde Park concert in London (1991), which drew 150,000 people, and two years after the Central Park stage in New York City (1993), where he sang before an audience of about 500,000 people and millions of television viewers. ), where he sang in front of an audience of about 500,000 people and millions of television viewers. At the time, Pavarotti said, "Forty years ago, oh, it seems like yesterday. I've been through a lot. When reporters ask me about the most unforgettable day of my life, I always answer, "The day I won this competition. I was with all my friends at that time. The film includes Orlando de Lasso's "Hello, my heart" and Jacob Handl's "In the name of the Lord" from 1955, when Pavarotti sang with the choir, and an interview in which Pavarotti talks about the choir's victory. The 100-page LP-sized luxury book includes a history of the concert, interviews with those involved at the time, rare historical photos from the Slangoslen archives, a newly written biography of Pavarotti, a reprint of the original concert program from the time, and a specially written Includes a special A4 size concert poster.
