The new album "LOVE QUANTUM" is the seventh studio album by Zio Croker, an elite trumpeter, composer, and producer active in the next generation jazz scene since his debut in 2007. This is his seventh studio album since his debut in 2007. The theme is love. It is about love in all its forms: love for friends, partners, family, oneself, and life. Zio Croker says that the experience of love gives him strength, which in turn gives him energy to live. In addition to Jill Scott, Gary Bartz, Wycliffe John, and Kassa Overall, the album features Jamila Woods, Ego Ella May, Teedra Moses, Chris Dave, and others. The artwork is by Tokio Aoyama, as on the previous album. Regarding the new song "Jazz is Dead" with Gary Bartz, which was released prior to the album, Sio wrote the following comments."To use the label [jazz] is to undermine the original place of this music and to continue to force the contributions of legends into an unjust classification. I would like to share the thoughts of Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Donald Byrd, Gary Bartz, and other masters [of the genre] and eliminate [jazz] as a genre description. This music should continue into the future, free and unbound, and not be marginalized in the community that will carry on the legacy [legacy] of our predecessors."
