The MASTERS BOX is a budget-priced series of releases featuring a wide selection of classic masterpieces by established artists from the extensive catalogs of the long-established classical labels SONY CLASSICAL and RCA RED SEAL, both of which boast more than 100 years of history in the U.S. This is a popular series that is being released one after another at a bargain price. The artwork design is white and eye-catching, and the booklet is not included in this set. This set does not include a booklet. Vladimir Horowitz, one of the greatest master pianists of the 20th century, was known for his highly individualistic and uninhibited playing. This box contains seven CDs of Horowitz's Chopin recordings for RCA and Columbia-Sony Classical.CDs 1-3 are SP to mono recordings on RCA, CD 4 is a stereo recording on RCA, and CDs 5-7 are stereo to digital recordings on Columbia Records, recorded almost in chronological order within each segment, so you can trace the evolution of Horowitz's performance interpretation of Chopin's works in actual sound Included are live recordings of his 1951 Carnegie Hall concert, the 25th anniversary of his U.S. debut in 1953, and the legendary "Historic Return Concert" of 1965. The collection includes Horowitz's only recordings of such well-known pieces as "Andante Spianato and Brilliant Polonaise," Scherzo Nos. 2 and 3, Ballade No. 3, and Improvisation No. 1, along with posthumously released recordings of alternate takes of these pieces.
