First RT release of Iowa Dream, released in 2019! Rough Trade presents the first reissue of this collection of previously unreleased works by Arthur Russell, a giant who has traversed the leftfield from outsider disco to ambient to improvised folk. The collection includes "Just Regular People," "I Wish I Had a Brother," "Wonder Boy," "The Dogs Outside are Barking," "Sharper Eyes," and "I Felt," all written while Russell was living in Northern California in the early 1970s. The album also features a wide range of songs from folk songs written while he was living in Northern California in the early 1970s that describe his original landscapes, to avant-disco songs like "I Kissed the Girl From Outer Space," "I Still Love You," "List of Boys," and "Barefoot in New York," all of which were written while he was in New York City. The album includes 19 rare tracks that have never seen the light of day behind the scenes of his diverse career.Previously heard only in the documentary Wild Combination, the long-awaited new take on "You Did it Yourself," which culminates in a driving funk rhythm and Russell's extraordinary voice, will be reissued for the first time outside of North America on Audika in 2019. The reissue is the first to appear outside of North America on Rough Trade, following the release of the album on Audika in 2019.
