Sibelius' only concerto, "Violin Concerto in D minor," will be performed by the main artists of Chandos, Jennifer Pike, the young muse of the English violin world, and Andrew Davis & the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra! Sibelius' "Violin Concerto" was nurtured in Nordic Finland. We look forward to Jennifer Pike's approach to the "Violin Concerto," which is transparent and lyrical as if it were reminiscent of the nature of Northern Europe, and is performed on a magnificent scale.The spark and technique of this young British prodigy will surely give us a fresh Sibelius performance. Following Berlioz (CHSA5118) and Diliath (CHAN5131), this is the third time the "British" Androu Davis and the "Norwegian" Bergen Philharmonic have teamed up in Chandos. Andruw Davies' superb orchestral control and music making and the Bergen Philharmonic's sophisticated sound are an excellent match.
