The third installment of Cupertinos! Newly restored and revived music of Pedro de Cristo! The Portuguese vocal ensemble "Cupertinos" led by Luis Toscano, the young tenor of Brabant Ensemble! The third album by Cupertinos, which won the prestigious "Gramophone Award" for its first album "Cardoso", features the music of Pedro de Cristo, one of the most important polyphonists of 16th and 17th century Portugal! Luis Toscano is a Portuguese tenor who participates in ensembles such as Brabant Ensemble, Ars Nova Copenhagen, Musica Ficta, etc. Founded in 2009 by the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, Cupertinos (formerly: Cappella Musical Cupertino de Miranda), founded in 2009 by the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, specializes in the vast polyphonic music of Portugal, in partnership with the University of Coimbra and with the research of its director, Luis Toscano, and musicologist José Abreu, among others. The album "Cardoso's Requiem" (CDA68252) suddenly won the 2019 Gramophone Award for Best Old Music, and Kupelchinos has made a name for himself around the world.Duarte Lobo's second album, featuring the world premiere recording of two masses and a collection of eight Christmas responsories, showed even more of his potential. This long-awaited third album features the 16th- and 17th-century Portuguese composer Pedro de Cristo. In Portugal, books and manuscripts were not properly maintained for about 100 years after the dissolution of the Congregation in 1834, and many of Pedro de Cristo's manuscripts are believed to have been lost. In 2021, however, the University of Coimbra, with the generous support of the Fundación Cupertino de Miranda, restored four major manuscripts essential to the repertoire included here. The majority of the damaged works have been completed.
