Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who composed the soundtrack for *Stranger Things*, have released a new album on Hourglass Recordings. Recorded over the course of a week, this album features rare vintage synthesizers—including CRB, GEM, and Elka models—from the “Museo Del Synth Marchigiano,” a synthesizer museum in Macerata, Italy. Building on the legacy of synthesizer music pioneered by Cluster, Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Morton Subotnick, the album unfolds a sound that fluidly shifts between rhythmic exhilaration and lyricism. Through the unique fluctuations and textures characteristic of vintage equipment, this work resonates with a human warmth and vitality that are hard to achieve in today’s digital environment.
