Chet Baker's last work, recorded at his studio in Montmartre, Paris, three months before his unexpected death in Amsterdam in May 1988! A gentle, beautiful, and heartwarming work performed by a quartet of guitar, piano, and bass! A quartet performance of trumpet, piano, guitar, and bass, recorded in a small studio in Paris in February, just three months before his death. This is the first CD release of the quartet's last work, "Last Great Concert" recorded in Hannover, Germany, in April 1988, and the first studio recording with Enrico Pieranunzi. Chet also made two studio recordings, one with Enrico Pieranunzi and the other with the Space Jazz Trio. The album was produced by Norwegian guitarist Jon Larsen, who says that the album was recorded in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, in Montmartre. According to him, the Sismo studio in Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement of Paris was not so conspicuous from the outside, more like a bunker.However, upon entering the building, one can imagine that for decades it was a haven for jazz and blues musicians and a place for musicians to relax. In 1988, the control room was equipped with a multitrack tape recorder and an analog 16-track mixing console, old-fashioned but state-of-the-art equipment, perfect for recording jazz. Originally, the recording was made in a small room separate from Chet's quartet, where he recited his own poetry, and the performance and recitation were recorded on separate tracks. A mix of the two was released on LP and CD by Hot Club Records, and a similar CD of Chet reading Norwegian lyrics was released as "Blamann! Both the LP and CD come with a gorgeous booklet. Both LP and CD come with gorgeous booklets featuring photos of the actual studio recordings, an essay by original producer John Larsen, and an essay by music writer Brian Morton.The recording is in good condition with transfers from the original tape reels.
