This is the second album by The Hermes Experiment, a contemporary ensemble formed in 2013 with the unique composition of harp, clarinet, soprano, and double bass. The ensemble has commissioned works from many contemporary composers and was nominated for the RPS Award (Royal Philharmonic Society Awards) 2019 in the Young Artist category, as well as the Royal Overseas League Mixed Ensemble Award (2019), Non-Classicals Battle of the Bands (2014), among other awards. Their last album (DCD34244), their debut, was named "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone magazine and "Presto Recordings of the Year 2020" by Presto Music. The current album is also an ambitious work that actively includes a number of commissioned works written for them. The enchanting and mysterious sound produced by the unique compositions covers a wide range of music, from classical to contemporary pieces that sound somewhat like folk songs and bring a sense of nostalgia.Co-director Eloise Werner is a French-born, London-based soprano & composer who won the Michael Cadigan Trust Award 2018, the Linda Hurst Contemporary Voice Award 2017, and the Leeds Reader's Young Artist 2018 In June 2022.
