Beautiful and technical melodies are truly fascinating! A collection of concerto works by a French female composer, Fernand Duluc! Fernand Duluc (1896-1954) was a French female composer. Although Duluc, who lived in the same generation as the Six, is not well known, she has been reevaluated in recent years, and her scores, which were previously unpublished, have recently been published, and her performance opportunities are increasing. Duluc studied organ and composition at the Paris Conservatory. Since her husband was a saxophonist, many of her works are for the same instrument, and an album of her saxophone works (NOMADMUSIC / NMM-088), performed by the Elipsos Quartet, has been released. The melodies in the solo parts of the works are truly beautiful and the technical passages are fascinating. The saxophone sonata in classical sonata form and impressionistic harmony is a masterpiece, while the "Poem of Heroes" for trumpet, horn, and orchestra, written in 1946, is a wonderful product of Duluc's matured style.Duluc, who has lived in the United States as her husband was a member of the New York Philharmonic, has made the world premiere recording of this concerto in three contrasting movements, which sounds more American and neo-romantic than French. The Harp Concerto, written for Pierre Jamet, has an exhilarating style reminiscent of the harp sonatas of his contemporary Germaine Tailleferre (1892-1983).
