Mad Anthony, a trio formed in early 1975 by John K. Schwab, Larry Dotson, and Carl "Mad Anthony" Richards. Named after Richard's nickname, the trio initially made the rounds of Ohio bars and clubs playing covers of The Byrds, The Beatles, Jackson Browne, and Crosby Stills & Nash, and soon established a style of soaring harmonies and tight arrangements. With his growing reputation, he recorded this album as a session recording to take the next step. The recordings were destined to be a big breakthrough, but luck soon ran out on them and the trio disbanded. It was Ben Schwab, son of core member John K. Schwab.If you are familiar with the US indie scene, you may recognize him as SYLVIE, who recently played on DRUGDEALER's album and also made his debut on FULL TIME HOBBY in 2022. Ben knew about his father's band, but it was only recently that he heard "Lost Tape" for the first time, and he insisted that it should be released to the world. After long persuasion, the album was miraculously released on the independent label Earth Libraries in Alabama, USA. The 10 painfully beautiful songs were recorded on a 2-track recorder in an old barn in Santa Barbara, California, by three young people sitting around a microphone, unnoticed. Despite the unfavorable recording conditions, the songs are so wonderful that one wonders what kind of masterpiece could have been created if the recording environment had been perfect.Starting with Folk Rock, then Soft Rock, culminating in 1968, and finally the 70s singer-songwriter A.O.R., this is a miraculous collection of recordings by an unknown trio who were unlucky enough to leave their mark on the golden age of rock music.... The greatest excavated sound source of 2023 is now available.
