Description:

The year 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of Paul McCartney's release of his eponymous solo album. This solo album was written and recorded by Paul alone, playing all instruments by himself. Paul had not planned to release an album in 2020. However, during his isolation during "Rockdown," he began to organize the musical drafts that had already been made and to create new music. Soon a wide range of musical genres was created as "McCartney III. In the tradition of "McCartney" and "McCartney II," a collection of rustic, self-produced works, made literally as a solo effort, would mark the beginning of a new decade. Recorded earlier this year in Sussex, "McCartney III" features Paul playing guitar or piano and singing live on most of it, with bass and drums dubbed over the recordings later. In the songs on the recordings, you can hear the instruments used at Paul's Rude Studio, including the earliest instruments used in a 1971 session at Wings. Those and the lineup of vintage instruments all have their own historical backgrounds. Bill Black's double bass, a member of Elvis Presley's original trio, Paul's famous Hefner violin bass, and the Mellotron from Abbey Road Studios, which was also used in The Beatles' recordings, are just a few examples. Both McCartney and McCartney II represented Paul's personal and musical reinvention in the face of a new decade. Paul's back-to-basics attitude became apparent. And McCartney II, the avant-garde masterpiece of 1980, saw him rise from the wreckage of Wings. In McCartney III, Paul is once again alone, turning this unexpected situation into a personal snapshot in the form of a unique facet of the long history of a timeless artist. Written and produced by Paul McCartney Cover logo by Ed Ruscha Gatefold featuring photos of Mary McCartney, Sonny McCartney, and Paul himself (with family), 180g weight vinyl on white vinyl, made in " Rockdown"
