＜The fifth recording series of Tatsuya Shimono and the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Bruckner's birth! No. 8" is a live performance in Tokyo in March 2024, the last performance by Shimono as General Music Director. In addition, "No. 1" from the Hiroshima Subscription Concert in May 2023 is also included. Following the simultaneous release of the 4th Bruckner Symphony "No.6 and others", this is the compilation of Bruckner's works by Shimono & KO Symphony Orchestra! Tatsuya Shimono, who became Music Director of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra in April 2017, performed Symphony No. 8 immediately after his appointment and received high acclaim. The first recording was the "No. 5" from the subscription concert live on May 24, 2019. Thereafter, both Bruckner performances continued on a regular basis, and for his last concert as General Music Director, Mr. Shimono selected this No. 8.In Hiroshima, the performance was held on March 8, 2024 at the Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen HBG Hall, and the live recording was made on the final performance day, March 10, 2024, at the Sumida Triphony Hall. Seven years have passed since the performance of No. 8 immediately after he assumed the position of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, and this performance is the culmination of the progress and achievements of both musicians who have taken up this piece again. It is a compilation of their accomplishments, and the CD of this project shows the progress they have made during that time. The stability and attention to detail in the performance of the major works are also evident throughout. There is no doubt that this performance will be listened to for a long time to come as an important response to Bruckner performances in Japan. The impression is that this piece is almost exclusively recorded by Japanese orchestras as part of their complete works, but with the recent rise in popularity of Bruckner, the opportunities to perform this piece are gradually increasing.Speaking of relatively minor pieces, Mr. Shimono himself recorded No. 0 with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra in 2005, and the addition of this new lineup should be good news for fans. Here again, his interpretation based on a thorough analysis of the music shines through. The performance of No. 1, which transcends the concept of a mere coupling, is also a must-hear. As in the past, the recording was made by Brain Corporation, which is based in Hiroshima and has made many recordings with the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, and has an established reputation for its recordings.
